Training Countdown

12 weeks to go to the start.

From here on, specific training for the tour takes place. However, sub-zero temperatures and forecasts of more snow in the midlands mean that my own training will continue to be mainly gym-based for a while. Rob, being based in the south-west, has the benefit of slightly better temperatures but this advantage is marginal and rain seems to be a greater problem in his area.
We're both agreed that we must exercise caution. Whilst we recognise the need to get out onto the roads, a limb-or bone-breaking accident (or worse) at any stage between now and our departure date would be far more detrimental than if our training wasn't quite as intense as it should be.

In the next few weeks, I'll be checking and posting weather conditions, in Spanish and French towns on our approximate route, to try to identify improving seasonal trends and reassure ourselves that we've chosen and will be taking appropriate clothing. There's nothing worse than carting around too much cold-weather gear in a heatwave (and vice versa)!

These are the conditions that we're hoping for in France !

Our next post will see us launch an appeal for donations to our charities. In the meantime, Rob and I have already received exceedingly generous contributions and we are both greatly appreciative.
